Warehouse Floor Cleaning Case Study: Poland E-Commerce Distribution Center
A 25,000 m² e-commerce distribution center in Poland needed a clearer floor-cleaning route across sorting, high-rack storage, and cold-chain movement areas.
The issue was not a single contamination problem. Each area required different cleaning approaches.
Facility Profile and Warehouse Floor Conditions
The site handled food packaging, daily chemical products, and small appliances. Its layout included parcel sorting, pallet stacking, high-rack storage, an outbound buffer, and a cold-chain transfer route.
Forklifts and pallet jacks moved through all of it, so loose waste spread throughout the facility. In some rack areas, 10–15 cm floor clearance left paper scraps, pallet chips, and carton dust close to stored goods while main aisles appeared clean.
Why One Cleaning Routine Could Not Cover Every Route
Before the change, the team relied on broom sweeping, hand scraping, manual mopping, and one walk-behind scrubber. Tape residue from packaging took around 2 hours per day in manual scraping, and loose labels, stretch film, and carton pieces would clog the scrubber if left in the route.
The same routine also missed the difference between storage and cold-chain work. Rack-line debris made storage checks harder, while freezer defrost water and tire marks slowed movement through the cold-chain route during busy outbound periods.
Every floor condition required the same methods repeatedly.
Equipment Assigned by Warehouse Zone
The facility deployed a zone-based setup with 1 Tank5 unit and 2 XD70 units.

Before the new setup, 8 cleaners spent approximately 8 hours across sweeping, scraping, mopping, and scrubber work. After the route was rebuilt, 3 operators handled the machine route in around 6 hours, with manual cleaning for residual adhesive.
Rack-line checks required less pre-cleaning because the team cleared debris before it accumulated near stored goods. Cold-chain routes returned to service faster because the planned machine route removed water and tire-mark residue without repeated water-recovery cycles.
Before we changed the cleaning plan, tape residue took hours to scrape and loose packaging waste kept returning around the sorting and rack areas.
